Make your building work for you.
There are several reasons why an open system can be the right choice for you. An open system offers the benefits of open communication protocols and the freedom of choice. The Honeywell / Tridium systems we typically install are not regulated by territories, allowing for competition. In addition to this, contractors installing other brands of Tridium systems will generally have the tools and knowledge to take care of your needs if ever desired. You can connect these systems to one supervisory device allowing access to all your buildings from one login no matter the brand or installing contractor.
We once replaced the entire HVAC automation system in a building for less than the proprietary system controls contractor already onsite quoted to modify the system for a mechanical room upgrade. Whether you are installing new or replacing a system, you should consider an open system and a local contractor. Applied Building Systems, an independent contractor providing Open Systems!

While not a large company we have a very well rounded staff with an exceptional understanding of HVAC and electrical systems as required when you are designing or applying systems to control them. Additionally, not being bound to an equipment manufacturer or contractor we are free to work with any manufacturer, contractor, or engineering firm without bias.
Truthfully, some sites have little need for building automation or HVAC controls aside from the convenience associated with being able to monitor and control building functions from one location or remotely. Others need it desperately, and there are many reasons to have a system. Management of energy use is a big one. Not only can a building automation system coordinate building functions to run more efficiently, it can be utilized to shed loads to avoid peak demand electrical charges saving up to an additional 30% on energy costs.
Maintenance costs are another big factor. A building's mechanical systems can be vast and complicated. Having your systems presented graphically with real time data associated with all the components is a very powerful tool for understanding and troubleshooting your system(s). Even if you don't perform your maintenance in-house, your provider being able to view your building systems without a site visit can save unneeded trips and ensure the correct person is sent for the issue at hand when required.
